Ken is a 1993 graduate of Northhampton County Area Community College. He served his internship with The Robert S. Nester Funeral Home in Snyders, Pennsylvania, and was licensed in 1994. He has been the owner of the business since January of 2014.

We, the people of Orwigsburg, are now celebrating our semiquincentennial anniversary - 250 years of progress. In that time, many changes have taken place in customs and in practices in the funeral profession.

Eighty nine years ago, in the year 1937, the first funeral home in Schuylkill county designed exclusively for funeral service was constructed in Orwigsburg on South Liberty Street. This single, almost unnoticed incident, brought about a revolutionary change of custom. This change was from that of holding funeral services in private homes to having them in a place and atmosphere designed and constructed for that particular purpose. Since 1937, thousands of services have been held from this facility.

The setting of a simple, but home-like atmosphere, done with a professional attitude, have assured the future of the same benefits of the past. This, along with a constant interest in the quality and compassion of services offered, has made this Funeral Home a place of comfort that most families in our area look to with pride and confidence.

In 1955, the funeral home was purchased by Jim Heffner, who then sold it to Lundbye in 1968. It was at this time that John’s son-In-law, Wayne S. Hamilton, became involved with the funeral home. Wayne graduated from Simmons School of Mortuary Science in 1978. Hamilton was licensed in 1979 after his internship with the firm.

In March of 1998, John Lundbye passed away. Later that year the name of the business changed to Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. It was during this time that Kenneth J.
